Perfect for regulatory, identification, wayfinding or interpretive signage, these aluminum signs are a durable and affordable solution. Available in 0.040, 0.065 and 0.080 thicknesses, these panels can be fabricated with a standard or reflective finish.
Reflective finishes and their characteristics:
Composition:
- Engineer Grade (EG): Composed of small glass beads enclosed in either a translucent pigmented substrate or two layers of prismatic sheeting. It lacks a distinctive pattern.
- High Intensity Prismatic (HIP): Consists of two layers – an outer translucent pigmented layer and an inner reflective layer with glass beads. The connection between layers creates a lattice, resulting in a honeycomb appearance.
- Diamond Grade (DG): Designed for traffic control signs, DG retroreflective sheeting is highly efficient, returning 60% of incident light.
Reflective Properties:
- Engineer Grade: Provides basic retroreflection, suitable for commercial and non-critical traffic sign applications. Offers visibility for five to seven years and is visible from 400 to 600 feet.
- High Intensity Prismatic: Reflects light at a wider angle due to its prismatic cells, making it ideal for highway signs. Can last up to 12 years with visibility from 800 to 1,200 feet.
- Diamond Grade: The most efficient type, returning 60% of light. Specifically designed for traffic control signs, visible from 1,300 to 1,600 feet, and can last for 12 years or longer.
Applications:
- Engineer Grade: Recommended for commercial and non-critical traffic sign applications.
- High Intensity Prismatic: Widely used for highway signs where increased visibility is essential.
- Diamond Grade: Specifically designed for traffic control signs where optimal retroreflection is critical.
Lifespan:
- Engineer Grade: Retroreflection for five to seven years.
- High Intensity Prismatic: Can last up to 12 years when applied properly.
- Diamond Grade: Can last for 12 years or longer.
